  • Agency response will be covered.

You can sit in a classroom and talk theories, review the same PowerPoint each year, and discuss how to execute responses on the equipment your facility doesn’t have, or, you can put on your own gear and drill.

At Allen Safety, our HAZMAT courses will consist of ¾ drilling, ¼ classroom the duration.  If the facility would expect the team to execute a HAZMAT response in adverse weather (cold, snow, sleet, rain, etc), the team will perform drills to test your equipment and processes, so participants will need to dress accordingly.  Courses can be held on any shift, on any day of the week, ranging from 8-12 hours per day at no additional charge for nights, weekends, or “overtime” for any 12-hour courses.

We recommend for facilities 0-500 having a team of approximately 35 persons, and for facilities 500-3000 having a team of approximately 60-75 persons.

Having depth in your team ensures that when callbacks are made during a leak on off-shifts, weekends or holidays - or if you have a longer response requiring multiple entries on extreme weather days- you have enough members that come back to the facility, as well as fresh team members to pull from that can pass vitals.

Because so many roles on the team do not require technical refrigeration knowledge (only the person turning the valve needs that-  think backup, decon, security officer, etc), we recommend in addition to having utilities/refrigeration on the team, that your facility include members from maintenance, production/operations, wastewater, rendering, maintenance, and production supervisors, safety, environmental, medical/nursing, human resources, and security on your team.  This is also great for cross-over training and employee engagement.
